At Timber Yard Direct Products, we house a superb range of pressure-treated solid railway sleepers of various lengths and sizes, ideal for function and creativity. These timber products are a popular choice for multiple applications thanks to the numerous benefits of pine.

Uses for sleepers include:

Retaining Walls and Garden Beds

Due to the robustness and size of sleepers, they are often used as retaining walls and as beds framing raised areas, offering a natural look. Some also use sleepers for borders.

Pathways and Steps

Modern garden and landscaping design often turn to sleepers to edge pathways or house stones, slabs and bark. They can also be cut to size to form a steppingstone-style walkway.

Furniture and Features

With some imagination and a tool kit, a sleeper can be used to fabricate garden furniture like benches or tables, various decorative creations or even made into a children’s swing.

I have been using these folks for the past couple of years. The name may have changed but the staff have been brilliant.
From the office staff to the driver. The professional approach If they said they will deliver on a day its there. So, I'm not a trader but a DIY guy finishing of his property. I'm hoping after the name change, more trader's will buy from this company and keep them in business.

Got a sheet of MDF for a DIY wall panelling. Much cheaper than these kits at the big stores. I went with the dimensions and cuts. The Person who dealt with me was super helpful and knowledgeable. They also did the cuts for me and even gave me any excess material left over.

Have More Questions About our Timber Sleepers?

Talk to an expert

1. Where are you able to deliver to?

We offer our fast and free* delivery service to anywhere within 30 miles of our Coventry base, including Nuneaton, Rugby, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Lutterworth, Tamworth, Bedworth, Hinckley, Atherstone, Leicester, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Northampton and everywhere in between.

2. What can railway sleepers be used for?

Our railway sleepers for sale have multiple uses, such as for borders, flower beds, paths, steps, benches, tables and decorative features.

3. Are timber sleepers good for use in gardens?

For your garden, sleepers are ideal. Our pressure treatment process enhances the timber to resist decay, rot and insect damage, allowing our sleepers to withstand the elements for years. They’re able to resist intense summer heat and non-stop showers.

4. Can sleepers for borders be painted?

All our railway sleepers for sale can be painted, oiled, treated or stained. However, you must prepare the timber. You’ll need to clean and ‘weather’ it to ensure the pressure treatment chemicals have leached out and the wood is dry. If you’re unsure about weathering, get in touch.

5. How long will railway sleepers last outside?

Railway sleepers can last 20 years or more with care. Sleepers in contact with the ground will degrade faster due to moisture and soil-borne pests.

6. How are your sleepers treated?

Our railway sleepers in Coventry undergo pressure treatment where the timber is placed inside a cylinder, the air is removed, a chemical preservation solution is loaded, and pressure is applied, forcing the chemicals deep into the wood, protecting the sleepers against rot, decay and insect damage.
